Released my first game
For years, I have been struggling with putting out a game. Ever since middle school, I wanted to be a game developer. I had made dozens of small games, but I could never work on them for longer than a month. I always thought that was a shortcoming of mine, but as I read other indie developers' experiences (namely Edmund McMillen), I realize that this is common. So I decided to put away these grandiose visions of making a huge indie game that breaks the market and takes years to make. Instead, I think I would be happier to just fool around with different concepts and make short little games that I can actually complete and feel proud of releasing.
This shift in goals came largely due to McMillen's post on Gamasutra over a decade ago that I had stumbled upon lately. (https://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/117521/Opinion_Indie_Game_Design_Dos_and_Don...)
I started equating releasing short games to a musician releasing a few singles and mixtapes before moving on to a full studio album. This game is my first single and I will hopefully improve with my next. Maybe one day, I can even release that studio album, but for now, this is my first game that I released and I am looking forward to making a better game next. It is fitting in a way as this is my first trial. Check it out if you are interested.
